Farther than 2 hours, but Hotel Roanoke

We don't do a hotel but Old Town Alexandria always gets me in the holiday mood with the Xmas lights and decorations. We like to window shop and visit Why Knot? and Christmas Shoppe, and the oyster bar.
Maybe a hotel near one of those drive-thru holiday light displays?

We did Hotel Hershey twice at Christmastime when DD was younger. The amusement park was open, so that was fun, as was Chocolate World, driving through Sweetlights, and enjoying the indoor pool at the hotel.

OK this is random, but what about the Mansion on O Street? It's so over the top and crazy...you could do a staycation and see the DC sights!

We have done the Gaylord, Homestead, and Ritz Tysons. Loved the Gaylord, Homestead was pretty good but nothing much to do and far to drive. Ritz Tysons I was able to get a great deal but still not that impressed for the cost.

I am debating Hershey Hotel. I think Greenbriar may be too far. It can even be very local for a Staycation. We just like doing 1-2 nights as a family to get in the holiday spirit. I have a 15 tomboy and 8yr old girly girl if that helps. Thanks in advance.
