The charts are pretty clear.

Kids at DCI improved more over time -- maybe the BASIS kids didn't show as much growth because they started out 'more proficient?'

And the promotion eligibility number for BASIS (80%) meant they got a 5/10 on that measure vs. a 10/10 for DCI.

I am neither surprised that IT & CMI didn't do well (they are purposefully focusing on life skills and not academics -- which is not a jab at them, but a fact and their families want that), nor that DCI outperformed BASIS. BASIS should add more language at an earlier grade. It's overly focused on the foundational English and Math skills (which it does very well) and should increase the foreign language to 5 days a week earlier. It has great language teachers, let them do what they do so well.

So proud of DCB!

That's very sweet.

Of course, you're talking about "teach to the test" schools (KIPP is a perfect example); Yu Ying is for higher SES students than that, so it's not surprising the scores are better, but there are similar schools with similar philosophies. Sometimes their demographics are a problem.

DC Prep's scores (as well as KIPP) are fantastic.

SSMA also Tier 2.

Worth looking at the 2 page reports on each school which shows how they got to the overall score.

A few surprises among the DCUM favorites -- IT and CMI are Tier 2.

Washington Latin and BASIS MS are both Tier 1 with Latin scoring better overall.
