Maybe your father forgot.
Maybe your mother didn't know.

Wow. Way to sacrifice your fathers pride for your own. That's an asshole move. You probably tattled as a child too, didn't you? As long as your father remembered, why throw him under the bus.

For anyone else, I would use the term "ungrateful." But they're your parents who reared you, so just think that you're a good daughter.

and who brought that topic up during family get together?

I would be frustrated too. I might not care if my father had told my mother or not, but if her reaction to the news was to call me a liar instead of asking him if it was true I'd be pissed as well.

You must be a woman. Men don't take the blame for others, easily. People who benefitted from another's money should be aware of the "gift."

OP, you should demanded an apology.

This is probably quickest way to kill OP's relationship w/ parents. OP, let it go. Trust me, they spent a LOT more raising you than what he borrowed from you. I cannot believe you are bringing this up 15 years later.

Why would you allow your father to make you look like a liar in front of your mother?

You only look like a liar by bringing it up and insisting on it in the first place. Let it go. You were helping your parents and now you want to humiliate them. People are so fucking petty it kills me.

Again, I ask: WHY? For what purpose?

I can understand a loan you want repaid. But this looks like you want some groveling years and years later from your dad and your mom. Yeah, you're right, PP, probably a man.

Basically she called me a liar.
So I forced my father to tell her which he just did.
My mother immediately shut her mouth and sat down and tried to change the subject.

I do not want the money back I just wanted my father to admit to her that this in fact did happen.
I did not anticipate my mother calling me a liar and insulting me.
I feel terrible about this but this was a battle I was not going to lose.

So, basically, you dad never told your mom about this - and you felt the need to bring this up 15 years later because...?
