That's the rub.

My dh got straight As at NoVa and applied to transfer to UVA--no dice. They went elsewhere. That said, if you do it, apply for transfer admission before the priority deadline.

So the "guaranteed transfer" isn't?

Just checked--it's still in place and it looks like it's even easier than ever (3.4 in NVCC classes) for Arts and Sciences admittance. Amazing deal.

What is wrong with Patrick Henry?

I'm confused. The agreement spells out the criteria (last time I looked three years ago). Automatic admisssion if the criteria are met.

Is there not a direct transfer program in VA from community colleges to the state schools without going through normal admissions process?

It is really hard to get into UVA if your grades and test scores are so lame that you doubt you can get into Sewanee.

I know someone who transferred from a top tier LAC. He had very good grades and scores. I think it takes about the same to transfer as it does to be accepted from HS. It's a plus if you are a late bloomer and do better in college than you did in HS.

If I don't get into Sewanee ED, I'll probably be headed to Hampden-Sydney next year. I'm a bit nervous about HSC though, because I'm afraid the students might not be serious about academics. How tough is it to transfer to UVA from an LAC like Hampden-Sydney? What do I need to do if I want to do this? My major will be Classics.
