See a hematologist.

My dad has had ITP for over 40 years. His periodic low platelet episodes are well controlled with prednisone. There is a platelet disorder organization online that can educate you about other treatment options.

Good luck!

Is she seeing a hematologist?

I'm supposed to go see one for the same issue but haven't gone yet and likely won't unless I get another low count next time they draw blood at a physical.

I’m so sorry to hear about your mom’s health condition. While I don’t have any suggestions, please know that I’ll be praying for her, asking God to touch her with His healing hand and surround her with His strength and peace. May the Lord be with you and your family. Hugs and prayers!

My mom has been diagnosed with Thrombocytopenia. So far they've only prescribed a round of Prednisone when her platelets dip very low. They've done this 3 times. Her latest platelet count is 13,000. Should we be pursuing other treatments? It seems as though the Prednisone is just a band-aid for a chronic issue. I'm worried about her falling or cutting herself and bleeding out. They don't know what caused it. Any suggestions for how we can make sure she's getting the right treatment?
