I went thru kiss and ride today and got out of the car and opened my trunk and got out my kid's REALLY HEAVY PERCUSSION INSTRUMENT BAG that he needs for band. He cannot carry it on to the bus b/c it is too heavy, nor can he get it out of the car or trunk without help.
Why don't you mind your own business.
This is how it is suppose to work! Patrol is suppose to help kid get out of car. Kid can also ask for help getting things out of car like the trunk. All the parent has to do is pop the trunk.Anonymous wrote:Do they use patrols in the kiss and ride line?
When I was in elementary school, we had patrols that worked the kiss and ride. No parents got out of the car. I don't remember how the morning worked but I know in the afternoon, parents pulled up, patrols opened the door and asked who their kid was, patrol turned and shouted for kid (kid was usually right there anyway b/c they saw their car pull up), kid got in, buckled, patrol shut door. It eliminated the problem of parents getting out and clogging up the line with bullshit.
I would imagine in the morning it could work the same - patrol opens the door, helps kid out, patrol closes door, parents drive away. It eliminates the parent having to get out. If something is in the trunk, the patrol can get it out. The line would certainly move a lot faster.

Sure, they're saving their time but they're wasting everyone else's.

It was miserable with parents being oblivious to those around you. If your child is still in a harness, then park and get your child so that you can take your time safely buckling your child. If your child has a large instrument, pop the trunk and have your child grab it. You don't need to get out of the car! Or let your child take the bus. Every child should either be a walker or bus rider and the kiss and ride should just be for emergencies.
