My DC charter got the message. It said that our school, plus many other schools in several states were named. It also said the MPD did not believe it was a credible threat.

The WP article didn't mention mcps though. I asked someone if their school sent a similar message, and they didn't...which makes me wonder if our school was named specifically.

I am writing to inform you that several MCPS schools have received threats via social media. These anonymous threats have been posted and shared under a “clown” alias. Similar threats have been made to several of our surrounding jurisdictions, including Prince George’s County Public Schools and Frederick County Public Schools.
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is aware of these threats and investigating the matter. At this time, MCPD has stated that there is nothing to indicate there is any threat to public safety regarding these social media posts. MCPS is working with MCPD and will be monitoring this situation closely. Out of an abundance of caution, MCPD has agreed to be on site throughout the week as added security.
If you notice anything unusual or have any information, please contact the non-emergency number immediately at (301) 279-8000. In light of this situation, it is recommended that you review safety procedures with your child, advise them to be more observant, and report any suspicious activity.
