Also on the list, thanks!
O/T: Is it weird to visit college campuses if I'm not going to college? I always found them to be a fun place to visit. They're generally beautiful, I wouldn't mind being there. Is that creepy? Can I just walk in? I'm a woman in my early 30s.

Downtown Raleigh NC; check out and see if they have any festivals. They have an awesome first night celebration on Dec 31st.
Charlotteville is fun, and Staunton VA is cute and walkable and has a small college in the center.

Anonymous wrote:Amtrak from DC to Richmond. Stay in/near the Fan District. They have a great free art museum and lots of fun little eateries.
Anonymous wrote:Look along Amtrak routes and see what places are along the east coast corridor. Charlottesville is fun. Richmond maybe. The challenge won't be so much getting there, but getting around once you arrive.
Do you not drive at all? What about renting a car for the weekend, or doing Zipcar or the like?
