No, and my parents are very involved in our child's life, even though they live 1000 miles away. I can't imagine that they would want every email that goes out to the school population.

No. It would never occur to me.

My child's teacher has a closed FB group where she posts pictures and notes. I added my dad and my MIL's husband to it so they could see what was going on with my kid. But direct emails from the teacher, things like, there's a permission slip in your kid's bag? No.

WHAT ???!!! Why would she do that?

To be intrusive and annoy me. She forwards the emails to me with dumb comments.

I can't imagine this would interest any but the most involved grandparents. My worst fear is that they would try to contact the teacher about information that was sent out.

No. As observers I guess? I just found out my ex-husband put both his parents on all our of DC's school communication. This means homework announcements, teacher events, etc. I find it odd, but not worth asking him about. I was curious if others did this or not.

Sounds like your ex can't get his sh*t together and his parents have to handle the kid logistics WRT school.

I am the OP. Nope, not volunteering for the PTA or anything. On general today's homework is this emails. I find this odd.

I'm not the OP, but maybe OP's mom did this in order to know about volunteering opportunities at the grandkids' school. It's fine if the parents are fine with it. I know one aunt who volunteered in our kids' MS and one grandfather who volunteered in ES (from different families). No big deal, and nice to see some family members other than parents being willing to help out at times.

Sorry, wasn't OP's mom but a PP's mom who did this; still, it's a nice idea if it's done because the grandparent or other relative is willing and able to volunteer and the kid's family is fine with it.

Nope. I do include them on the emergency contact list, but only after listing 2 more local contacts first. If I ever get an email or picture or something from the teacher I want to share with the grandparents, I just forward it along. They do not need every detail.

No, and my parents live 10 minutes away. They are not care providers nor do homework. My mom put herself on the pta list but I don't include them.

If your parents live out of state, like far away out of state not anywhere near, do you add them to your DC's teacher's email list? And if so, why?
