I suggest asking the AART at your school. Usually they offer testing for students that do not have a result in their file, but it doesn't hurt to check.

That is for 3rd-7th graders.
Your 2nd grader will be given the nnat sometime this year and will take the cogat with the other 2nd graders.

That info does not apply to you. Your child will take the CogAT this fall and you can submit a parent referral in January if you wish.
I believe that they will give him the NNAT this year too (since he missed it last year).

Subject: Parent Referral question
My DS is new to FCPS this year as a 2nd grader. Our school emailed that if your child is new and you are potentially interested in AAP you would need to submit a referral by October 6. This was really the first I had heard about this. Does this apply to my 2nd grader or would this be for a 3rd grader who is new to FCPS? I thought they took a test in 2nd? He would have missed the one given in 1st so maybe that's why? I'm really clueless about this whole thing. If I don't submit a referral does that mean he definitely wouldn't get into the program for 3rd grade? I haven't even looked at the paperwork. Does it entail a lot of work that I'm going to be too behind on at this point? Can he take the 1st grade test now? TIA!
