I respect the message to "love yourself as you are" up to a point, I think it is also important to deliver the message that you don't have to just passively accept things that really bother you. If your nose really bothers you, and you can afford to get it fixed, you should do it. My grandmother hated her nose her entire life. I never understood why she was such a martyr about it. Give yourself permission to fix it, and move on.

I was thinking about your post, last night as I was watching a thing on teenagers and self-esteem. There was one girl who you wouldn't glance at twice. When I really looked at her features there was not a thing wrong with any of them, but what made her look so average was a nose that lacks definition. I would go to a surgeon and just asked to look at photos. Find the photos of the before after that you want to so that you can be clear on results.

This is completely wrong. I had one and it did wonders for my looks AND my self-esteem. You have to do your homework and choose your surgeon very carefully. Look at a lot of the doctor's before and after pics; talk to references if you can. Be very clear with the doctor about what you want and what you don't want.

nose jobs to me arent even like plastic plastic surgery. It's not implanting or injecting anything. I view it as fixing. but I am part arab. I say go for it. BUT, try to find a person with a good nose job to refer you.

I had a nose job pre dh and kids. However mine was a big European nose with a bump. It looks so much better now, so glad I did it. I pray my kids get dh's nose but if they get my old nose I will support them through it.

My nose was a bit wide and had a bump and a bulbous tip. I had two nose jobs - the first one left the tip still a bit blunt, so a year later the surgeon took a bit of cartilage from behind my ear and attached it to the tip to refine it. This was about 25 years ago and the result is still very nice and natural.

OP. I spent much of my life with the weight of that concept. And my mom (who did not have this nose - inherited from my dad), bless her, never ever "supported" me to get a nose job. Though as an adult, when the subject comes up, has gently said she didn't think it would be a big deal if I got one. Frankly, when she said that once or twice (this from a woman who would not make that comment lightly) I knew it was probably okay.

And then the last thing: My son was born 5 years ago. No other kids. Son does not seem to have my nose, but even still, I think the message is different for girls than boys. If I'd had a girl, I probably would not be doing this.

Has anyone done rhinoplasty on this kind of nose?

I am small and skinny, but have had a big and fat nose forever. Doesn't fit my face or body at all. When I was a teenager, I wanted a nose job but mom (good woman) told me to wait it out. Hit my 20s and life went on. But have always hated my nose. Now I'm 38 and feeling like my nose is feeling bigger and redder as I get older. And as other parts of me age (skin is less perky, a few wrinkles), I feel like my nose is really hurting my overall look.

Problem is that my nose is bulbous: It has both a bulbous tip (like, when you look at the profile, it has a big tip), but also is bulbous at the base (like, when looking at me straight on, it goes wide from side to side). All of this bulbousness not only makes for a "big" nose that doesn't look good on my face, it also makes for lots of shadowy lines when the various round parts meet. As my skin ages, I feel like these dark/red creases really bring more unneeded attention to my already big nose.

The bridge area of my nose is totally fine and skinny.

When I look at google images and before/after pics online, I feel like people with bulbous noses like this don't always achieve great results. Like, the nose is brought in and made smaller but the general shape of the nose remains, so there are still dark shadowy lines that call attention to the nose. It's not like a nose bump that you can just saw off

Has anyone had any good results with this kind of nose?? Thanks!!
