I agree. I see people pulling into the fire lane right in front of the school when there are parking spaces ten feet away. It makes no sense.

Lots of parents park illegally (and dangerously) near my school too, even though there are lots of legal spaces a block away and a carpool line where you can drop off your kid without parking at all. I don't understand the selfishness.

In my neighborhood, parents of elementary school students regularly park in front of the fire hydrants near school and walk to the front to get their kid. (a couple hundred yards). They inevitably end up taking 10-20 minutes to get their kid, meanwhile blocking access to the hydrants. This is illegal and dangerous in case of fire. Please don't do this - yes, you might need to walk a block or so out of the way to get your kid. Thank you!
