My mother in law bought a hat that said Barcelona when we were in Spain. Said it was a good conversation starter.

No. they give you those for free at every nice place I've ever stayed. I had no idea people actually paid for these things to look rich.

We bought a set of mugs from a cute little B&B we stayed in once. That's it.

Overpriced stuff that nobody needs. I do like to get cute fridge magnets from places I visit so if they had an attractive magnet, I'd drop $5.

No. Have a few free items from conferences though.

If it's something very distinctive, maybe. But the only example I can think of is we stayed at the Peabody in memphis, where they have the daily duck parade. Kids got little stuffed ducks with the peabody logo on them from the gift shop.
