We have that type of table (but dark wood), and it looks awesome with white Eames chairs (we got reproductions). The chairs are also super easy to clean, which is great for kids. If you google "farmhouse table with Eames chairs" you'll see lots of examples of that look.

Agree with painted Windsor or modern metal chairs. With a table like that you need contrast.

Another vote for Windsor chairs.

I have that table and these chairs:

The dark gold is great, but the the silver/pewter tone would also look good!

I have a very similar table. Started with ladder back chairs. Really uncomfortable for young kids. (Ours was also small house and only table.). I ended up getting black leather chairs from room and board. They are super comfortable and look good with the table and other furniture. Short. Minimal profile.

We did this at our country house with old antique chairs. I love the look but would wa t something more tailored in my house. I vote for upholstered.

We put Ikea Bernhard chairs with a table similar to that. We considered doing more than one color but eventually went with the dark brown ones. They've held up well to our very rough boys. I like that they have a very low profile when pushed in to the table--very unobtrusive.

Metal is likely the best match. Keep in mind that you'll need to find the right height for the table as well and that's much harder to do online.

I would do leather or upholstered, and have floor length slip covers for daily use.

We have this type of table as our combination dining/kitchen table (small house, no dining room).

We bought it 14 years ago and it's been pretty indestructible (despite having 3 kids who are now almost in middle school) and and has gotten better with age.

I want to replace the wooden chairs we have because I've never like them and now they're looking very worn.

What type of chairs would you get?

I've liked the farmhouse, weathered wood, Shabby-chic, Pottery Barn look for years but I'm honestly getting tired of it. It's everywhere now--on every blog, etc.

What type of chairs to buy??
