OP here. Thanks all for your input. I'll be driving solo straight through on my way there. Had heard 219 is windy and mountainous vs. Route 15 which is a little bit longer mileage wise but takes around the same time or just a few minutes more.
You're right -- 219 isn't such a great road, if that's a concern. I'm looking at the times on google maps and they are really only about 15 minutes difference (also the road through Pittsburgh is quicker than through Harrisburg, which surprised me). We are usually traveling on holiday weekends though, so maybe that makes the back road quicker? IDK. I think it's six of one and half a dozen of another, honestly.
Also, IIRC, there may be parts of 219 with spotty cell service, if that's a concern.
