As a former PG teacher (left in July) and current MOCO teacher the chart is somewhat accurate however it seems to be based on the higher end of salaries with a Master's degree and years of experience which is what I'm currently in. You should see the average salary for a teacher with just a Bachelors. It is much lower.

Hit the paywall on the article but the chart you posted is just average salaries. what are the actual pay bands? Average salaries could be skewed by things like higher turnover or higher percentage of new teachers.

still not high enough to get teacher who have the options to teach in the better systems all around

PG has a lot of social problems. For the past 20 years, it's even had a more corrupt government than in DC.

This unfortunately happens everywhere. The last cycle seemed to hit the frou-frou private schools. Apparently, PG is currently in the crosshairs now.

Does every serious car accident make the news?
Does every robbery or break-in make the news?
Does every missing child or battered spouse story make the news?

I dunno. Most of the news traffic I see about school personnel sex abuse of late has been in MoCo.

I am not sure if it's the media that skews so much attention to PG county schools, but over the last 3 days, all I have heard are sexual abuse, child porn, sexual assault and other allegations against PG county school teachers. What is going on? We are in VA and were considering moving to Maryland to lower taxes. This is an entire black eye on the system.
