RH redesigned the leather Cloud shortly after it’s release. Perhaps the bad reviews were for the original design & not the current one?

Most of their items are too big for old DC houses. Literally don't fit through the front door.

I have two and they're both holding up fine. Admittedly I don't sit on one much - the kensington, but it is very pretty.

Their furniture is junk.

We have a RH maxwell sectional. It was pricey, but we love the look and it has held up so far to 2 kids + pets. That said, the first one they delivered, one of the pieces was a noticeably different color. We bought through a designer, which made it easier, but RH was not super helpful, considering how much we paid. They finally ended up replacing the entire sectional, but it was stressful. If you search gardenweb there are a handful of aMerican made RH dupes, particularly for the leather sofas, though it's hard to judge how truthful reviews are. FWIW, I was nervous when we bought Bc of online reviews, but we don't regret it - we checked a lot of the alternates (Rowe, Mitchell gold, American leather) and while fine, it's just a different look/feel. Good luck!

Why not pick out the RH item you want and see if a showroom in NC has it for less?

I found a RH couch at a thrift store that might have been donated by the outlet store for a stain which I was able to remove. I bought it for $199.00 and it's more comfortable to sleep on than my new $1500.00 bed! That was my experience.

Check out Room & Board if you like more modern/contemporary furniture. Most of it is American made. We bought our sofa from there 16 years ago and it still looks new.

Overpriced crap.

RH, west elm, etc. etc. all have overpriced furniture imo. If you look around there is plenty of reasonably priced American made furniture that's of similar or better quality and priced similarly.

I'm personally a fan of Rowe furniture (I think it's made in VA still). They have more modern and transitional styles and the stuff seems to be pretty good quality. There are plenty of other furniture brands out there that are still made in VA/NC.

I regret not getting a better quality American made sofa. We bought our RH sofa about 14 years ago and it definitely shows wear. A more classic style would have been a good idea as well. I'm just not crazy about the leather.

Restoration hardware is overpriced for what you're getting. It's made in China.

I would spend the same for an American made sofa of a nicer brand. Check out Miles Talbott or similar brands.

Our chesterfield sofa and chair have held up for 11 years and still look good

I have the recliners and sectional in leather (tufted though, not cloud). The chairs have held up very well over the past 4 years in a room that was prone to lots of temperature shifts. We also have a dog and any small scratches have rubbed out and aged/blended very well. We condition the leather every so often to keep it supple. The sectional we've had for only about a year. To our everyday couch. It's very comfortable and the leather seems of the same high quality. I've loved the RH furniture I've purchased, though I know they get mixed reviews. We also have their linen sofa and bench and both have held up surprising well, especially given that they functioned as our everyday couches before we purchased the leather pieces.

Returns and exchanges were also easy -- some cushions arrived slightly under stuffed and one of the chairs had leather we weren't completely happy with, and both were hauled away and replacements delivered without much fuss.

Was about to order a cloud sofa in leather and then came across some negative reviews from 2014. Anyone have more recent experiences?
