Uber's minimum age is 18. Take your chances before then.

I think my friend had her dd using uber at 16. Not sure what the age is. In my area there is a service like uber that specializes in just kids. It is really expensive but I know one friend that has used it a couple of times for her 5th grader last year.

They are not supposed to (according to the web site) but the reality is that drivers ignore that "rule" and many, many HS kids use Uber.

We use a private driver because the school doesn't offer transportation.

Is it only for your school or only DC proper. I live in MoCo and need this!

It's for a MoCo private. Lemme check with him and see if he offers the service at other schools. If so, I'll see if it's ok to post the contact info.

Ah I think the difference is that our old school only went to 5th grade, so kids still needed nannies. The new school is 6th-12th so kids don't really need a nanny but need rides!
Thanks. Yes, it isn't a service, but it looks like if you ordered a car to take you to the airport. Sometimes there are limos.

My DD ubers, too, and I ask her to use uber black (more professional drivers rather than random guys who are moonlighting.) So it sometimes looks like she is being picked up by a livery service.

Some kids do at our school but there are also a ton of embassy and IMF families. I've wondered if it's employer provided.

My DC had to go by taxi on days one of us was out of town. This was in high school, and before uber. There were others who used taxi to get to metro or home. Quite a few high school kids on the city use uber.

We have some kids with their own drivers and security...or are you speaking of a sort of taxi service?

Does this happen at your school? I wasn't expecting it but perhaps should have expected it. Just curious if it is common in DC area. I am in another major city.
