Beware of "North Cleveland Park" - it's a dead zone between Cleveland Park and AU Park west of Connecticut Avenue full of ugly houses.

There's Chevy Chase Village, which is different from other parts of Chevy Chase MD, and that's all very different from Chevy Chase DC.

20815 is always Chevy Chase MD, but has multiple incorporated/unincorporated areas. I thought OP was asking about Ch Ch Village since its housing stock was closest to Cleveland Park's. The Village is roughly 3-4 blocks on either side of Connecticut Avenue between Western and Bradley. It's one of the better off incorporated towns anywhere. The rest of Chevy Chase MD is more modest, but still v nice. Ch Ch DC is more modest yet.

The Village and Cleveland Park are both very, very cultish/cliquish

Cleveland Park is a cult of people who pretend to not be in a cult

The Village enforces all sorts of petty HOA-type crap. Read up on the prohibited swing set/monkey bars in the village. Also, understand that the Village is the kind of place that pays for its own police force by aggressively giving out speeding tickets to out-of-towners. This is the type of thinking that makes them stinking rich people in the first place, BTW.

Forrest Hills has a less of a distinct culture than either. There are some home in FH that run with the best of the Village or CP and a lot of homes that are just butt-ass ugly. FH has an old reputation as being much more Jewish- and black-friendly than other posh hoods in DC.

One is old money, the other pretends to be.

The architecture of the houses in Cleveland Park and Chevy Chase, DC are in many cases, very similar, though some particular houses and blocks in Cleveland Park are very grand.

Cleveland Park is more transit accessible. Most of Forest Hills and Chevy Chase, DC are fairly car dependent, unless you are right on Albemarle or close to the Politics and Prose area.

All three neighborhoods are fairly tight communities, with their own community associations and neighborhood listservs.

The old guard, particularly in Cleveland Park and Chevy Chase are very resistant to any sort of change, so they are kind of stuck in the 1950's where lifestyle and view of urban living are concerned. This will change over the next 10 years, unless someone invents everlasting life.

Cleveland Patk is significantly more expensive. Also living in a historic district can be a pain when you want to renovate.

The biggest difference is that over the Md. line, you get MoCo schools.

I mean they are a mile or two apart, but in general they're pretty freaking similar.

Cleveland Park and Forest Hills are closer to the center of the city while Chevy Chase is next to the Maryland line. Chevy Chase is a more desirable, cohesive neighborhood.
