+1 to wait. Writing checks for hundreds of dollars to get your fridge repaired every few years blows.

I will never purchase a Samsung again. I had a Samsung dishwasher and above stove microwave, they were both POS appliances. Stick with Maytag, whirlpool, GE, and Kennon.

I just had a washer repairman tell me to never buy a Samsung because they can't be reached for parts and information. At this point, this is their reputation. I don't know if they have changed their ways.

I've heard this about Samsung in the past...is it still true though? They seem to have a big market presence now.

I had no problem mail-ordering replacement gaskets for my older LG refrigerator. They had all the parts available online so I don't know why a technician has to wait months. Samsung is a different story. They don't work well with people.

I've had two LG refrigerators and they worked great. The second one has an in-door ice dispenser which works well but tends to toss out ice chips onto the floor while it's dispensing ice. It's not like you get to test the dispensers on the floor models in the store. If you are someone who is going to get tense about water touching your kitchen floor, then don't get one with an in-door dispenser.

I have been told by two different appliance repair persons to never buy a Samsung appliance. The problem with Samsung is that you practically have to go to Japan to get any sort of warranty or repair support. They ignore online and telephone requests. Their fridges are also not known for reliability.

I love my LG fridge. (OK, it's a Kenmore but it's made my LG.) My previous fridge was also a Kenmore/LG and I used it for 10 years before I replaced it with a newer stainless model. I sold the old one on Craigslist since it was still in working condition. It never needed a repair I couldn't do myself. The new one is working well after 1 year.

Both have reliability issues, especially if you opt for the in-door ice maker/water dispenser. The Samsung has issues with the seal, iirc. We looked at both and opted to get a KitchenAid instead, with water dispenser inside the body of the fridge.

OP: Had no idea. Maybe is should get the Frigidaire one for $1700?

Definitely not LG. Ours (one year old) had endless problems and the parts had to be special ordered and twice arrived broken. I finally gave up on the ice maker.

Need to replace my fridge with a counter depth one. Looked to see what us on sale and the Samsung one is $1000, way less than any other. There is an LG one on sale for $1500. All the others are closer to $2000. Is there any reason not to buy the Samsung one, if I'm ok with the specs.
