Directly from their website-

Be sure to mail the $60 application fee, as well as the personal statement required with the application, soon after you submit your application online. This must be received in order for your application to be processed. In addition, all other application requirements are applicable (see above for requirements)

So, you can fill out the "application" online but other things have to be hand mailed. Time to move into the 21st century, SJC.

Almost every kid who applies to St. John's also applies to at least one other school. That would not be exceptional to them at all.

Maybe they don't officially open the admissions season until school starts. Other schools ask you to wait until after Labor Day to contact them.

This. Freshman orientation is just today and the whole school is back tomorrow. They are quite busy.

I bet I (or others) can help you out with your question -- have two kids there and love the place.

Maybe they are just too busy at this time of year. They don't have the ability to "staff up" at peak periods.

Maybe they just got back from vacation.

And maybe your question set makes it seem to them that 1.) You are at a very low level of understanding of the school and/or 2.) That you sound to them like an unlikely prospect. Every sales function (and that's what Admissions really is) sorts through a process of understanding where and how to apply their time and resources to maximize their results.

They may have plenty of applicants who don't need as much education and who are more likely to attend.

St John's is an older DC institution. There are thousands of local alumni. Many of those who apply and go there know a great deal about the current school and the school's history.

Most of the objective info about the school can be found on-line.

If you are serious about the school and have a low level of knowledge about the environment there, I would recommend you go to a St John's football game. You'll see the whole thing --- the students, the alumni, the teams, the enthusiasm ---before you.

That wasn't our experience at all. Do you have a specific question? We just did the shadow day then the application so not much contact but everyone seemed really nice. I stopped by once (forget what for) and they were there and helped me out.

Yes. They are not good about communicating. It's very frustrating.

Yes. This was our experience. The admissions director is also not the warmest person. They also still have a paper application.
