Do you live near a college?

American... Montgomery college?

Years ago we found ours on Craigslist. We paid him dearly. He came from DC on his motorcycle and after a few visits didn't want to continue due to the distance but we convinced him otherwise - if you throw enough money at it ... paid for 2 hrs and we agreed he'd teach for 90minutes - there's only so much physics that can be taught in one sitting. We thought it was very worth it. And we started at the beginning of the school year. DH & I are english/history types and DD was STEM focused (and now has her STEM doctorate) We thought she needed a mentor, someone to talk with re: physics because it wasn't going to be us.

Dropping the class isn't an option - DC has to take Physics and AP is the only one that works with the rest of the schedule.

NOt that anyone will believe me, but not a helicopter parent.

My DC has dysclaculia and requires more practice than most to master content with a lot of math. Lining up a tutor by the end of September simply makes sense as it is a class that would be hard to catch up with if DC gets behind.

typo: dyscalculia

Ask the teacher. Someone else in the department probably tutors.

For example, if it is AP Physics I, then you can probably find a senior who is taking AP Physics C to tutor. If it is AP Physics C, I woul ask the teacher for recommendations.

If my kid was struggling the first week, then he would be encouraged to drop the class - I think DD dropped the same number of AP classes that she completed and it was not a big deal. But maybe OP's kid missed a question on the HW and she is afraid he will get an A- and ruin his future.

+1

AP isn't for everyone. Are you a Tiger Mom? Sounds like your kid doesn't have the aptitude.

Ask someone in your kud's science department. (Like that physics teacher). They probably have a list of people they reccomend.
