We have 4 or 5 twin air mattresses. We got the cheap ones I posted above for about $5 each. We sometimes have between 2-4 guests and I'm not putting anyone on the floor. We also have an extra twin mattress we have stored for guests as well (had an extended guest). Anything is better than nothing, but why not get cheap air mattresses. Plus, if you camp, they are nice for camping. You can blow them up with a cheap pump or little shop vac on reverse. I'm not sleeping on the floor, so I'm not putting anyone else directly on the floor. Would you want to sleep on the floor?

No one (other than the PP) is going to be pissed off if their kid sleeps on the floor. Stop stressing about this.

When my son was that age, we often went old school, or did really dumb comedy. Jim Carey movies, Stand By Me, Goonies, Stepbrothers, etc. Stop stressing about where people sleep. They'll crash somewhere and it'll be fine. You're overthinking things.

Yes, it's fine to have a kid sleep on a mattress on the floor if just one is sleeping over. We've done this, too.

But not the most fast paced group, if you know what I mean!

I think we did that once, and am wincing at the thought that it wasn't the right way to go. For the group sleepover, can you all suggest a few good movies that we can make sure we have access to? Boys are 11 or just turning 12.

You do not need to provide air mattresses; floor or couch is fine. Yes, they bring sleeping bags and pillows.

I agree with having a few movies from which the boys can pick. My son does a mix of gaming and movies. My son and his friends also play other games (board, card, etc.) and they may go outside in the backyard as well.

I leave the activities up to them and don't plan the evening for them, but I do say lights out at 11 (my son is 11, so age may determine your lights out time).

I always serves bacon, homemade waffles and fruit for breakfast. Some people have an assortment of cereals. Some do bagels and cream cheese.

This is COMPLETELY ridiculous. My son had well over 100 sleepovers and only ONCE did a kid pull his mattress onto the floor and have DS sleep on that while the hosting kid slept on the box spring. The kids can sleep on the bedroom floor or on couches.

No bed sharing -- too close to gay, and boys are really sensitive about anything that might get them labeled gay.

Sleeping bags in basement is fine.

Video games. Maybe a violent movie.

Have a LOT of food. Pizza, or hotdogs/hamburgers/grilled cheese, plus fruit/cut up veggies, plus two types of desserts. Why don't you get an assortment of movies DS likes and thinks his friends might like and then they can pick from those?

Some households sleep in their bedroom, and some do a living room floor set-up. No, they do not share beds like girls.

We have not hosted many of these, particularly not groups. And DS, age 12 has not been invited to many. Hoping to help him out socially (and he'd like this to happen), but he can't advise us much as he has not attended a ton of sleepovers. So he wants to have about 4-5 friends sleepover. Is it typical for boys to use sleeping bags on the basement floor or maybe in a bedroom? Do boys ever share a queen bed the way girls do? Is it video games all the way rather than movies? If movies are an option, do you guys recommend having them picked out or let the group sort it out? I should say that a number of the boys are not perhaps the most socially put together (in addition to DS!). For this sort of group, would you guide more as they are perhaps less savvy about these situations? Thanks for all help!
