They are both NESCAC schools

I stand corrected! Looks like they joined in 2009 so not even brand new.

Trinity, however, does have a richer vibe than Hamilton, among its students. Both colleges are very preppy but Trinity has that rich edge while Hamilton has a broader intake.

+1

Trinity alum here. Its student body is about 60% full pay and Trinity cannot afford to take more students who need financial aid. As a result, the students are overwhelmingly affluent, prep school types.

It is extremely preppy and Greek life dominates.

IMO these together are negatives, but YMMV.

Or Trinity University--in San Antonio? Also in a city and always ranked at the top. Warm weather, great food, awesome city, excellent education.

Hamilton is a "better" school in terms of rankings, etc...Trinity is SUPER preppy, really has to be a good fit for the kid. And Hamilton is literally in the middle of no where. Visited with my D who was all gung ho about it but after seeing how far it was crossed it off her list.

Maybe Amherst, Conn College, Middlebury, Colgate?

Both are very preppy. You need to make sure that you are comfortable with this vibe if you choose either.

I'm with the earlier PP: how would this question helpful to you, OP? And even more so -- how are one-word responses helpful? Maybe if you refine your question, this would be more productive. And, to those who are responding, maybe if you state the basis for your opinion, it would be more helpful and carry more weight.

Why are you asking this question right now? Obviously, you're not trying to make up your mind about which of these schools to enroll in, as they are about to get underway and the time to choose is long past.

So if you're asking about next year, why don't you go look at them and both and decide for yourself based on things like the setting, the campus, the strength of the programs in fields of study that interest you, the cost, and extra-curriculars?

Which would you choose?
