I'm this PP - I should add though that it's more like a first day of K thing, not first day every year thing.

We go out for dinner. Son's choice. Which God help me is usually Red Lobster. Ugh. Lol.

We started this week. We were going to do ice cream after school and a dinner out after my child started k, but she was so exhausted we just went home and played with home toys and ate at home. Maybe all do something tomorrow after the first week of k when we're don't have to take up early again the next day.

We do frozen yogurt after the first day. And DD wears something new the first day.

We do this immediately after school to recap the first day!

Special dinner - either at home or out to dinner that night? Though you know your kid best -- a 5 yr old just starting kindergarten may be exhausted and in total meltdown mode if they have to go out to dinner that night and sit in a restaurant on good behavior for another hr, after having done it for 6 hrs earlier. But then some kids would think going out on a Monday night was a huge treat esp if you typically don't do that.

My oldest DC starts kindergarten on Monday. I'd like to start a fun first day of school tradition and am looking for ideas. We'll take pictures of course. I'm wondering about something to do after school to celebrate/commemorate the start of the school year. Anyone want to share a special thing they do for their kids?
