That's not true. My retired father (who is not an addict but is a republican) regularly helps recovering addicts find work. And if they need money dad will give them household chores. That is the republican spirit. People helping people. Because they want to and they're kind. Republicans just don't want the government to take on the chore.


it's sad that you think and have to mention being a republican is similar to being a drug addict.

I am a Republican (not sure how that entered the conversation). I have always supported legalization and treatment. I supported it even before a family friend entered into heroin addiction and then broke through with heavy family intervention and gods grace and personal strength and maybe luck to hang on one more day to make a difference. I would never wish an OD on anyone (also known tangentially people who have). Think about Prince. Elvis. The talent. Family friend is great..addiction in rearview mirror..beautiful family. Contributing to society.artistic and hardworking. Thank god for miracles and I'll take the narcam as part of it.

You don't get it. Addicts come from all walks of life. They need help. Nobody sets out to become an addict.

I don't disagree with OP, I think the wording is a little off. I have been frustrated at the thought of my tax money going to these projects surrounding addiction. The part that bugs me is this is completely preventable from the get go. We all know drugs are bad, yet choices were made to use them. I'm referring to the 26 overdoes in Huntington WV, all survived but 2 because of the use of Narcan
