My feeling is it's easier to supplement with tutoring and other enrichment in elementary and middle if you're really confident in the hs.

We gave up our house in Roosevelt zoning (for Science & Tech, not within normal boundary for non-magnet) and I don't regret it. There was no guarantee the kids were going to be placed in science & tech (which is amazing, no doubt) and I am unimpressed with the rest of the school. Meanwhile we had all the years running up to high school to consider. Good luck, OP.

Agree that it's not worth staying if that's the high school. Would you move to another district or stay in PG?

OP, how has your family's experience been so far? Are they doing well, because of or in spite of their current school situation? Or, are they suffering? If they are doing well and you don't feel like you have to scramble, personally I'd stay. If they aren't, I'd move.

Both of our children are in early elementary and this constant battle of finding good schools and the PGPCS lottery versus privates and so on and so on has been stressful as many can relate. We've considered moving because the public elementary and middle boundary schools are just ok. But the boundary high school is great. I've heard so much about people wanting to get into this school I don't know about "giving up" a guaranteed placement there even though it's years away. Anyone else ever face that?
