I would say that about 1/3 of the time, maybe closer to 1/2 of the time, my order is slightly incorrect. I have been ordering iced coffees with milk, one splenda, and a sugar free syrup. Nothing crazy. Usually they forget to put in the milk.
This morning my coffee was filled to the top and I asked the barista if he could take it back to pour some out and put the milk in. He looked at my ticket and said "oh, sorry, I forgot to put the milk in." I said no problem, but he expected me to pour the coffee out in the trash can. This was kind of annoying because it got all over the place, which I knew would happen, and then coffee got onto my white pants.. which was exactly what I was trying to avoid. Ok, whatever, we ultimately got the milk in, NBD. Then I got to the car, took a sip, and there's clearly no syrup in the coffee. ARGH! I guess I'm just annoyed. I paid $4 something for my coffee and I would like it to be what I ordered! But at the same time, I felt like it would be overkill to go back inside. There's no question that he forgot the syrup, though.
So I drove away, but now I'm kind of sad because I really was looking forward to my coffee and I don't love the way it tastes without the syrup. I raelize that this is a complete first world problem, but it's my one "treat" of the day and I like to get what I've paid for. How do other people handle when the baristas mess up your order?
Check before you go. Just like at the drive-thru, you look through your bag before driving away, right? Way too much trouble to go back in once you are gone.
