I also have been watching with my 12 yr. old daughter - we love GG! It's been a real bonding experience, watching it together. We watched the final episode a couple of days ago and both of us wound up crying.

I agree, Jess was awful to everyone at that stage, but I also felt so sorry for him. He had a big chip on his shoulder from his dad leaving him, and just never seemed to fit in anywhere. It annoyed me how rude he always was to adults. He does get better though! I think once he finds Rory, he realizes what a great girl she is and he wants to be a better person for her.

Totally agree about Jess! I wished that he would have come back more when older. Remember when he reappeared when Rory was at Yale, though, after he had written his book? Loved GG!

And remember what a dick Logan was to Jess when Jess showed up to visit Rory? I've never liked Logan, even towards the end when he seemed to have grown up and asked Rory to marry him. I liked seeing Jess in Philadelphia at his writers co-op (or whatever that was). He seemed to have really matured and come into his own. Maybe he and Rory will have found one another at last!

I liked the Jess character because he was a "bookish" bad boy, different from the captain of the football team type character or a Dean or a Logan. He was a total Jack Kerouac, young Bob Dylan, Holden Caulfield type of guy! Rory had a wide variety in her love interests! All American nice-guy Dean, bookish bad boy Jess, and rich kid Logan...

Here are my predictions:

--Lorelai & Luke are and will stay together despite appearances by Lorelai's ex's Christopher and Jason, which will hopefully just about how they've moved on with their lives.
--Rory will have some contrived job that lets her live in Stars Hollow.
--There will be brief catch ups on the lives of Paris, Dean, Sookie. Lane, now divorced or Zach is on the road, will be more of a storyline.
--My guess is that Rory starts off with Logan in the beginning and Jess shows up and she ends up with him.
--Logan licks his woulds with the Yale college friends.

--Hopefully Lorelai will actually be nice to Emily.

The promo has Rory and Lorelai talking about Any Schumer & John Oliver, so I assume it takes place "now." The actors have aged too much (naturally) to pick right back up.

I'll also miss Richard a lot.

I'm not sure. If they do have it set to 2016, Rory will be 32 (she was born in 1984).

So, I've finally finished all seven seasons on Netflix and can't wait for the "Year in the Life" episodes to come out in Nov. Does anyone know if these encompass a present day (2016) year, or does it pick up right where the last episode left off? In other words, will they be showing us what everyone's been up to since that last episode (the going away party for Rory, etc.)?

I think it's obvious Luke and Lorelai will be together - finally. That whole detour with Christopher was ridiculous. I absolutely adore Luke. Yes, I realize he's a fictional character, but he's so good to Lorelai and Rory. I wonder if L&L had kids. I felt so bad for Luke when he was holding Doula ( ) and looking at her with the realization of how much he's missed by not knowing April when she was little.

As for Rory, I wonder if she and Logan wound up together. Somehow, I think they probably did, but I think Rory's always had a space reserved in her heart for Jess. We shall see...

It'll be so sad not to see Richard anymore. I really loved that character and his relationship with Lorelai and Rory. I wonder if Emily will have remarried.
