Subject: Re:Episcopalians - when your priest is called to be a bishop
The parish will call an interim rector who usually does not clean house. There is a whole diocesan-mandated search process that takes 12-24 months. When a new permanent rector is called, usually he or she will want to hire their own staff.

I experienced two transitions - one retirement and a priest to bishop. In both cases there was a house cleaning.

My mom's priest retired last year, so I guess it's a little different. No cleaning house there.

When your priest is called up to be a bishop, what happens to the rest of the parish staff? I have heard that they essentially clean house once the parish selects a new rector. True?
