If your college/university meant for there to be no activities on election day, they would have communicated that to the professors and students. As it is, they have not so the expectation is that classes and exams will continue on as normal on election day. The same as almost every other organization in the US.

There are so many reasons why I don't miss teaching...seriously you are trying to get out of the exam even before the class has started? Getting an education is not supposed to be a cakewalk. If you don't want to work then quit school. Your professor is not your punisher.

People work 8 hour days and still manage to vote.

Many of us vote on our way to work in the morning. Plenty of time left to put in a full day. I think you'll be fine.

Also most places have early voting days so you can cast your vote a couple days in advance, at polling places around the area.

Is this how entitled the younger generation feels?

Why on earth can't you take an exam on election day? How long is this exam, an hour or two? If you're voting absentee, you'll be all done by that day. If you're voting in person, you'll have ample time to get it done.

If you're hoping that the professor will move this so you can go volunteer for a campaign, just work your volunteer commitment around that test.

The polls are open from morning to evening. I think it's a stretch to claim you will be too busy voting to attend an exam.

My professor syllabus is on Blackboard site and it says we have EXAM 3 on Nov 8. Do you think if I email him now he will changed the date of the exam? Classes start August 22nd.
