We attend the 16th campus and loved it. Yes, it's in a "church basement" but the classrooms are bright and vibrant. All new materials and equipment, the teachers have the flexibility to adapt their curriculum and I was completely impressed with what my child learned during her time there.

This. With all the hassle of opening and running a satellite school, they're not going to innovate the curriculum. They're going to borrow as much as possible. Anything new will be adjustments to tweak the physical constraints (classroom sizes, staffing, adjustments in lunch/recess, etc.)

You should have just gone wuth amidon. Bethune doesn't really teach much Spanish and the commute will stink.

Bookland is actually a school building and would be closer. 16th is in a church basement.

Location, location location.

I'm not sure there's anyone that has personal knowledge of both campuses that's not part of the administration. Since 16th Street has only been open one year, there's not a lot of history there. We were at Brookland because we live nearby, and I wasn't a fan, but it was fine for a year (or two). I fully expect the curriculum is the same at both campuses. The aren't older kids at 16th Street, so that might be a nice thing, but I'm not sure how much outdoor space there is at that building.

We live in SW DC -- so both will be a bit of a trek for us. But, in terms of curriculum and culture/environment -- which campus did you choose?

What helped you decide between campuses?

Any other advice?
