The Bubble bum is an awesome travel booster and very narrow. Can fit three in the back of my Mazda 3.

Get two backless boosters and keep them in your trunk. This is how we all get through the elementary years.

so just latch, no tether?

You don't tether a non-harnessed seat.

Just have an extra backless booster. How far are you driving?

Traditional boosters are not attached to the car at all. They are "belt positioning boosted" and are meant to lift the kid into position. They are small and easily portable. I have two extras in the trunk. Takes maybe 10 seconds to to a one in the back seat.

My daughter has one of those seatbelt-positioning vests that she can use instead of a seat and it fits in her backpack.

We have 2 regular boosters installed in our car. I keep 2 extra backless boosters to either add to my car if we have a bunch of kids or to hand to other parents who need them.

Most people have extra boosters in their car and the kids you're driving use those.

Once they are in backless boosters, it's easy enough to keep a few spares on hand.

We have several extra boosters for carpools and playdates. It was harder when they were in harnessed seats, but boosters are easy.

Extra boosters or just take their booster with you.

Do people not carpool to school until kids are out of boosters? Or do they just use a seatbelt?

We have a kinder, 1st and 2nd grader all on the same street going to the same school with the same drop off time. Seems crazy for all 3 of us to drive, but though I don't mind driving, I do not want to mess with a bunch of carseats/boosters.
