My daughter, a soon-to-be college freshman, just took her cousins, ages 8 and 11 to the Newseum. They liked the exhibits about the Civil Rights movement, the current presidential campaign, and the Revolutionary War. These are kids who hear a lot about politics and history around the dinner table. Additionally, they had just watched the movie "1776" and the older one has read the book "The Watsons Go to Birmingham" about the Civil Rights Era. They also loooved the exhibit about First Dogs -- when I picked them up, they asked to drive by the White House to see if they could catch a glimpse of the Obama's dogs!

My then 5 yo liked it. There are some subjects that are difficult to explain....violence, terrorism. When I was there many years ago, there was a 911 exhibit with a piece of building from the WTC. My son and I were watching a short video of the collapse of the buildings. My DC was asking why it happened. I was trying to explain and started choking up.

Our 6 yo wasn't exactly bored, but he didn't love it. It's mostly just reading or watching stuff.

My 6 and 9 year old loved it. Interactive exhibits. Not too big or overwhelming.

They LOVED it. Cool interactive exhibits allow them to try out being news anchors and reporters. Also, best view in DC.
