NP here. What psychiatrist takes BCBS? Since it's Anthem, can I assume you are not in the DC area?

This is why we got out pediatrician to prescribe the meds once we decided what our DD needs to be on. Actually after 2 years her meds haven't changed and the peds office doesn't charge the copay monthly anymore, just sees her every 6 months, co pay for a med check. Significantly cheaper than the specialist.

Well you need to check what your deductible is, my dear.
DS's psychiatrist charges $140 for each visit, and right now we're doing monthly visits. Ugh. No insurance reimbursement!

You should receive an Explanation of Benefits from the insurance company. It will show the amount charged, the amount covered by insurance and the amount you owe. It should also show how much went towards the deductable. Always look at them carefully, doctors and insurance companies make a lot of billing errors.

If you met your deductible in the winter, that was 2015... you are now into a new calendar year for deductibles.

If you have coinsurance, you are splitting the bill with the insurance company (and paying a copay) until you have paid up to each person's deductible. It is a relatively new and crappy health industry term.

DH said he thought deductible was $500.00 but maybe its 500 per person. but he spend 400 or 300 dollars back in the winter when we went to the doctor because he was sick. and now this. so we at the deductible amount.

If you're discussing medication, do you mean psychiatrist? At any rate, $125 is more than reasonable -- I would consider that cheap.

So MY DS goes to a psychologist for his ADHD. (We have a new insurance plane this year). We got the bill and its says $125.00 Insurance paid 0.00 . We thought we meet our CO-PAY but I guess we didn't. is $ 125.00 normal for a yearly check up for his ADHD and his medication?
