This sounds great to me! Or after the day alone get a sitter and go out to date night.

Am I the only wife who absolutely hates gift cards? We share money, so it's like DH is giving me permission to spend our money, and I don't need permission!

Dh just took me to cirque du soleil, I really liked it. Or for more splurge: a middleburg winery weekend. I wouldn't try to surprise her but give her the options and do all the research ahead of time. Congrats on being a thoughtful hubby!

Op,

I admire you for wanting to get something for your wife but, don't you know what her interests are? It seems slightly depressing that you have to ask strangers what your wife would enjoy. If you can't think of anything after living with her for years, how are we supposed to?

NP just chiming in to applaud you for making the effort! (DH gave me a thermostat for Christmas two years ago.)

How about an updated technological product?
Or a gift certificate for a couples massage? Or a full on spa day?

Or how about doing something new + different out of her typical comfort zone?
I.e., a wine tasting party, horseback riding, an outdoor concert or a dinner cruise?

LOL. She wants to go on a cruise but can't afford it this year.

How about a cruise out of baltimore? They are much less expensive as no travel is involved. Bermuda is lovely.

Give her an experience. Hot air balloon? Wine tasting? Something fun.

On a Saturday or Sunday, get up with the kids and then leave with them. Give your wife the whole day at home alone.

Then bring home dinner, flowers, wine, and a cake.

That would be fine with me. Maybe a spa certificate if you think she'd be into that. Red Door is a nice one, and they can advise you there on what is a reasonable package. You know your wife, though.

She has enough jewelry and clothes to last a lifetime. Should I just get her flowers, dinner, and a gift certificate to her favorite store?
