My best friend's husband died and I told her she could make me guardian of her children. She wanted to make her sister guardian and her kids hate the sister. So if this was my best friend I would raise the kids, I would contribute.

OTOH my neighbor has a go fund me page for her SAHM 26 yo niece ... her H just walked out on her and she has 2 kids. I did not contribute because she needs a job and child support.

I adopted a family member's baby. The family member was not dying. It is a TON of work. It has caused a LOT of problems. There would be zero way to fold five more kids into our lives. You're asking if we would contribute to a fund, but I'm thinking about would I adopt six kids. No I wouldn't.

If my brother were a father to these kids, I'd rather take them being blood-related then having them go to a non-related friend of the mom. Who knows the circumstances behind the divorces or separation. If there are custody battles going on, I hope things get straightened out and living relatives have the oppurtunity to chime in. I think the priority should be keeping the kids together, however.

We have a family member who befriended a dying mother. It was the mother's last wish that this childless couple (my family member) take her teen daughter. They did, for a year, but the biological family really really really wanted her, so eventually they gave the teen to the biological family.

The site wants me to enter my email address in order to read it and I don't want to do that.
So let me get this right - the mother of the 6 children has passed away and her friend is adopting those 6 children? Yes I might contribute a small sum, assuming they're not drug addicts etc.

According to the article there is a GoFundMe for the family - and it's far surpassed the original goal. It's a sad story, but there are lots of sad stories and deserving families. I am surprised there is so little mentioned in both the article and the GoFundMe about the children's father(s) and extended families - surely there must be some family help, and if not that's a detail worth mentioning in an appeal for help.

Sorry about that.

This woman was friends with a woman who battled cancer for quite some time and lost her battle. As a pp noted she had 6 children from two men. The last was apparently in the picture but chose not to show up in court. And I don't know much more than that about him or the first man. Unlike the pp who mentioned that, my focus wasn't judging the woman who died but focusing on the children, considering the very difficult task her friend faced, and the fact her and her husband, as well as their children, was willingly to take in 6 children.
