NYC is a hassle and a half.

Go for a dedicated trip. Not an "easy stop".

Or just drive straight through - - drive is only @8.5 hours. Very doable in a day.

If must stop, how about Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, NY - never been but always wanted to go. Or NYC.

No way to mystic. Look at a map.

Yes to Hudson valley. Look at new paltz if you like to hike. Or beacon or Hudson if you like art.

We camp at Promised Land State park on the edge of the Poconos. It's a really nice spot and exactly halfway, but no good restaurants.

Lancaster PA would be great for a day - farms, Amish furniture, ice cream, but it'd be one long day and one shorter day of driving, not a mid point.

Can anyone recommend a good stopping point between Burlington and DC? We are looking for a place for dinner and an overnight and that would have a point of interest for a young family (kids are 6 and 3). This will be the last leg of a longer trip, and we're trying to stop in places that we'd want to explore a bit.
