I'm just so frustrated.
I see this quote used daily here. For some reason I find it funny. I picture you all sighing loudly, stomping your feet, being a drama queen.
Let the kid eat. Poor thing got carried away because you weren't around to force
veggies on him.
You are a jerk. Some of us think eating healthy foods is a responsible and intelligent way of life, one we also try to teach our children. Not the OP but I'm sick of stupid attitudes like yours, PP. Very ignorant. We eat tons of junk food on a regular basis. I also make my kids eat vegetables. I'm educated that way. I also try to teach my kids to make healthy choices.
OP, it's probably more that your DC has some power at camp. Choosing their own foods is fun. I would talk to him about the weight gain and explain this is exactly why we try to eat healthy foods more and useless junk foods less. Then don't worry about it too much. It will take only a month or two to get back to normal weight. At this age, there is no such thing as dieting -- only keeping calories the same rather than increasing them. They grow out of it pretty quickly with a healthy daily diet. Good luck.
