Maybe he's bloated or constipated. Give the kid a fucking break.

Children's food is restricted at home. All homes. This is totally normal. i don't know any kids who are allowed to eat whatever they want to eat. Not one single kid.

Are you the same person who posted about her son buying $20 lunch on a field trip? You sound the same. Stop pushing your food issues on your kid. Let him figure it out for a few weeks.

How old is he? Remember kids grow out, then up. Out, then up.

I see this quote used daily here. For some reason I find it funny. I picture you all sighing loudly, stomping your feet, being a drama queen.

Let the kid eat. Poor thing got carried away because you weren't around to force veggies on him.

You are a jerk. Some of us think eating healthy foods is a responsible and intelligent way of life, one we also try to teach our children. Not the OP but I'm sick of stupid attitudes like yours, PP. Very ignorant. We eat tons of junk food on a regular basis. I also make my kids eat vegetables. I'm educated that way. I also try to teach my kids to make healthy choices.

OP, it's probably more that your DC has some power at camp. Choosing their own foods is fun. I would talk to him about the weight gain and explain this is exactly why we try to eat healthy foods more and useless junk foods less. Then don't worry about it too much. It will take only a month or two to get back to normal weight. At this age, there is no such thing as dieting -- only keeping calories the same rather than increasing them. They grow out of it pretty quickly with a healthy daily diet. Good luck.

This sounds like a camp issue, at least in part. What is available that he's able to gain that much so quickly? Is he having three helpings of lasagna or loads of dessert? Are the kids required to have a vegetable at each meal? Or is the the canteen snacks and sodas that got him?

If you see where he's getting off track, it might be easier to fix.

Age, height, weight, and any health issues present?

Is he heavy already? Is the camp sedentary or active?

Are you one of those women who keep their weight under control by restricting the food in the house (gluten free, or no white sugar, or etc)?

I'm just so frustrated. I need him make the right choices on his own with another week of camp next week.

I want to have another talk with him again but I know he's not gonna change right away I'm just so worried his weight will get out of hand very rapidly.
