Downtown Silver Spring in a one bedroom apartment. One kid, then two, then thank goodness our HHI increased and we bought a small house.

There are some more affordable buildings in DC. They are not "luxury" apartments, but they're not $2,000/month, either.

We moved to Fort Dupont Park neighborhood. Most neighbors probably have HHI of between 80-120k.
