About 40 min from 7 yo's camp near my work to younger sib's camp near home (younger sib is 3 so too young for older DC's camp). 7 yo does not usually fall asleep but can happen.

At 7, I would be ok with this. This isn't the same as forgetting an infant. My 7 year old is familiar with the camp place and would just wait for me if he woke up (or I would tell him to do so when I saw him falling asleep). He's not locked in the car - he can get out and walk to the door of the camp. I would leave the windows partially open. I can also see the car from the doorway I pick up in, not sure if that makes a difference.

No - I have been in that situation before. What I do is either - see a parent I know and ask if they can get my child. Call the camp and ask to get my child ready for the parent coming to pick them up.

Or sit in the car and wait as long as I can for the pick up window to let the 7 YO sleep.

No way! Not in this heat. I would be very concerned if my husband suggested this was okay.

With the a/c left on, for no more than 5 mins., yes. Otherwise, no.

You're right. No way would I leave a kid in the car either.

I was mentioning to DH that our 7 yo fell asleep in car on way to pick up younger sib from camp. DH says I should leave DC sleeping in car and just crank the AC up for the few minutes before getting to the pick up location and then leave DC sleeping in car while I pick up younger sib. I told him no way and that I hope he would never do this. He got upset with me for telling him that.
At this camp, you park at the curb outside of school, have to go into the school back to the classroom where the kids are to pick up. Sometimes kids are on the playground so you have to then go from classroom out to playground to pick up. Was I over-reacting? Would you leave 7 yo asleep in car while you went in to pick up younger sib?
