I think I will skip the chalk wall. I can always just get them a chalkboard. Maybe we should just drywall now--I was trying to get that room done first so that we could move the toys in and have a place for them to play while we get the rest of the house unpacked. But it may be easier to just pay someone to take care of the whole thing. I can paint on my own--drywall, not so much.
I was going to suggest this. If you hang it on the panelling then it won't matter if it scuffs the wall since you plan to remove it later.
In terms of color, does the playroom get a lot of natural light? Do you have furniture that you will know will be in that room and what the color/wood tones are already?
