A lot of contact allergies build up. So you can use the same detergent or lipstick or pantiliner or bandaid for years and have no symptoms until you do, then you just have to stop using the offending product.

Yes I've had it especially with the more plastic type liners. I had to try various brands once it healed to see what would work.

btw, in case this helps, Whole Foods sells all kinds of natural/organic brands. I like the 365 brand, and runner up is Seventh Generation. In case CVS kind dont work for you.

some say "chlorine-free." maybe thats the issue.

OP here. Just a brief follow up to share that I was definitely allergic to the pantiliners. (FYI: they were unscented; no, it wasn't chafing or diaper rash.)

I'll be reporting it to Carefree, as well as the FDA. If I hadn't figured it out last-night, I most likely would have have landed in an ER room today.

Totally possible. The sweating and friction they usually cause doesn't help, I am sure. I never buy anything but unscented for this reason.

Def could be a reaction to the chemicals, but it could also be diaper rash, essentially, due to the chafing and hot temperatures the past few days. Have you been spending a lot of time outside sweating?

And contact the company to let them know. I am sure you aren't the only one who had a horrible reaction. I never get scented anything to go "down there." Try unscented or just sprinkle some corn starch in your panties if you need to absorb moisture. Be sure to let it air out for a few days to speed up healing and take a warm bath with baking soda and dead sea salts.

eek. try tampons only, dont use any powder down there, and maybe try benadryl to mitigate any allergic reaction. also maybe grab dove sensitive bar soap. it is the mildest soap on earth. not the liquid.

Yes, absolutely. I have terrible reactions to most pads and liners. Toss them and go back to what you know. Sorry, I know it's uncomfortable.

Are the carefree actifresh scented? You are likely reacting to the fragrance.

Carefree when they came out in the mid 80s, had a distinctive, powdery smell (I know because I used these as a teenager and would keep the package in my underwear drawer - acted as a sachet). Carefree still makes scented (same scent I recall), but all these yrs later, it's too strong so I opt for unscented.

I'd suggest a baking soda bath, warm. Sleep without underwear and go without panties and or wear loose clothing for the next few days. No tight workout shorts.

Definitely stop wearing them immediately!

Totally plausible and very common. Pantiliners and pads can be full of strong chemicals.

I'm suffering from a bad vaginal rash right now. I'm a bit swollen and have some blisters; plus it hurts to urinate.

It is not an STD, nor is it a UTI.

While yeast was my first thought, after lots of brainstorming, I'm now thinking that it's an allergic reaction to the "Carefree acti-fresh" pantiliners I picked up recently at a convenience store. I've been wearing them for two or three days. I usually wear Kotex.

Anyone ever get an allergic reaction like this to pantiliners? I don't know what "acti-fresh" is but I assume it's some chemical....

Plausible?

I've emailed my doctor but will wait until a reasonable hour tomorrow before calling.
