Many years ago, I used to see this guy all the time on my commute. We were both commuting from Vienna to Pentagon City, and working at neighboring buildings. So one night when I saw him out at a bar, I walked over and said, "do you metro from Vienna to Pentagon City for work?" he said, "yeah, I see you all the time!" We dated briefly.

So maybe if you see this guy again, you can say hi. I think a lot of people like having a sense of community with people they see out and about.

Not all guys will do that...many woman get offended if a man talks to them. So if you like a guy talk to him.

Go on "Missed Connections" on Craigslist to see if he is genuinely interested in you.

Or like a PP suggested, try riding the metro again at the same time, then if you do see him....Start a friendly + casual conversation and take it from there.

Of course!! But you've got to talk Op! It's not happening with fairy dust! A Metro ride may not be enough time, but then again it might. Or you might see each other a second time so at least you've broken the ice. Mostly likely you'll have to be outgoing many times before any single encounter is significant - - kind of like sending out resumes - - lots of blind alleys but if you don't put in the effort, nothing's ever going to happen. Do you have a business card? Quickly try to make a business-connection and offer him your business card.

An old coworker dated a woman that he met on the bus! We called her Bus Girl for a really long time. He was a really social guy, tho, and I imagine he'd have had no problem sitting down one morning and striking up a conversation. Maybe that's where the bus & metro differ tho -- odds aren't great that you'll end up on the same train very often.
