Pottery Barn Roman Shades are not terribly expensive. You have to install them yourself, but ours have held up well and were easy to install. The first ones we had lasted 10 years (then we moved). We are at 4+ years on the current version and very happy with them.

We installed Roman shades downstairs (approx. 200/window) and cellular upstairs (approx 100). You can get IKEA window coverings for much less, but they don't have custom sizing.

Well, if the window is really wide, it is going to cost more, but I definitely see a price range.

I can measure and install, no worries there, but all the online options I saw start with $200+ for a small window. Is this normal?

The title says it all. We've just moved into the new house, which has great big windows - which I love. What I don't love is the need to cover them so the damn kids can go to bed before sundown. We have massive mission-style trim on top and sides of windows and deep window sills, so I think roman shades that go inside the windows are the best bet for us. I can't be the only person who's ever looked for reasonably priced ones. Where did you get yours, and how much did you end up paying? Do I just accept needing to spend vast amounts of money?
