Straight men are rarely "just being nice". If he's going out of his way to be nice, he's interested. More than that, he's probably going to expect some reciprocal "niceness" from you.

I would define that as being nice. It could be for a lot of reasons but there isn't one I can think of that would lead me to conclude it was more than that. Most of the time you need an accumulation of 'events' to see a genuine interest for more than friendship.

Op here. Thanks for the response. I'm not convinced. He seems like a genuinely nice person. He seems to go out of his way to talk to me but not every day. We work in different offices.
