+1 on the Galaxy Zack series
Also the Archie and the Space Taxi series - I think there are 4 of those books now. It's about a boy who becomes basically a police officer in space.

This is what our 7YO is loving:
Ranger in Time series (about a time-traveling rescue dog)
Alvin Ho (very funny series about a second-grader with a lot of fears and quirks - there is a glossary in the back for various words/concepts in the books)
I also suggest taking a look at the website whatdowedoallday.com - she has a TON of reading lists for different age groups, interests (dragons, sports, etc.). I also like the website readbrightly.com for reading lists and book recommendations. Both sites also have semi-regular email newsletters that are terrific.

For the 9 year old, Percy Jackson and Harry Potter. the 7 year old might like them also.
Same author as Percy Jackson has a series of books 39 clues which are a bit thinner.

Not the OP, but the PP. Thanks for this suggestion - we'll check those out!

My DSs liked these:
Kickers by Rich Wallace (sports series)
Stink and Judy Moody by Megan McDonald (he started with Stink and then wanted to read all the Judy Moody ones)
Galaxy Zack by Ray O'Ryan (about a boy who goes to live on another planet)
Amelia Bedelia by Herman Parish (I know they're maybe targeted towards girls, but my DSs found them funny and read them all!)

13 Story Treehouse (and 26th Story Treehouse and 36 Story Treehouse). They have illustrations and a style similar to Captain Underpants (which my 7 year old loves) but without all the potty humor.
My 7 year old is also a big fan of Geronimo Stilton, the Stink Series, and A-Z Mysteries. Also My Weird School, but I'm not a fan. His slightly older cousin is really into the I Survived books.

We have three boys ages 7-9. They love superheroes and sports. They are above average readers. In the past, they have loved Amelia Bedelia, Magic Tree House, Cam Jansen, and other similar books. We're ready to step it up with them. Do you all have any summer reading recommendations for them? Perhaps a series of books that they can get hooked on over the summer?
