What other countries do this? Automatic citizenship even though the parents aren't citizens? Perhaps they could give birth here but, then their children are not citizens and they have to pay the hospital bill.

It has got to stop.

Happens a lot on my maternity floor. Self pay, wealthy, educated. Wil they come back? Who knows.

OP was specific that he/she is talking about people flying in who almost certainly go through immigration and leaving soon after the birth. If you want to talk about another situation start your own conversation.

Why fly? What about driving across a land border?

If they fly in, have a child and return home without overstaying then it's all perfectly legal. It's hard to fault people for taking advantage of loopholes.
