This will sound ridiculous, but in my experience, yes. I keep my TJ graduation on my LinkedIn page and it's contributed to at least one job offer. People are really impressed by it.

BS for anything non stem related for the contacts.

TJ for stem.

BS for a more well rounded education.

People outside of this area have never heard of TJ. The BS listed are much more widely known. Additionally, you child will get a wider, more well-rounded education at BS. I say BS all the way. This wouldn't even be something I'd deliberate over.

If you have $ and can deal with separation, BS hands down.

How long would DC's TJ commute be? I would chose boarding if commute is >30 mins.

TJ mom here: You should look carefully at what your DC wants to do -- will they be using the advanced equipment which is only available for top STEM students? Like those who want to be engineers/ research scientists/ doctors? TJ is a public school so the atmosphere is MUCH different than that of a private school, and especially of a private boarding school. If you can bear to have your child away for four years and you can afford it, I would go with boarding school.

Why don't you get admitted to both before you worry about this unlikely dilemma?

Depends on the health of your family life.

Depends, does you child romanticize the boarding school experience? I would try to see where my child could be most successfully, not only academically.

If your child had the choice between TJ and a top tier boarding school (St. Paul's, Exeter, Andover, etc.), which would you choose? Why?
