Everyone has TVs on the wall now. No one wants a huge entertainment center. Try to get someone to take it away for $50, and it would be a win.

If you don't have luck on Craigslist or Freecycle, you could also contact A Wider Circle. They'd come get it from you. You wouldn't get money but could potentially take a tax deduction for a donation.

I swear you can do this with the crappiest furniture and someone will show up in the next 24 hours with a truck. Everybody wants the free stuff.

I would add, be prepared for the person picking it up to "forget" that they need to get it out of the house and load it. I've had that happen a lot with craigslist stuff, even free stuff. Some people won't try and pull that crap but plenty will try and rope you into helping them haul it out and load it.

How long have you had the thing? Do you feel like you got your money's worth out of it? Maybe that's what you can tell your DH - "hey, at least we got our money's worth out of it".

OP, just do what PP said and get rid of it for free and pay the taker $1 for it. Then you can tell your DH money was exchanged. Or ask the buyer, when they are there, to give you a nickel so you can say you sold it.

Your DH is just like my mom and trust me, you will NEVER get rid of it if you hold out. The whole world is moving away from entertainment centers.

Can you "accidentally" take a sledgehammer or a sawzall to it? Agree with PP that no one wants those massive entertainment centers anymore.

Guy here. I was wondering why OP wasn't doing that too. My DW would simply say "be gone" by Sunday.

Tell your DH to get rid of it then.

Then sell it for a pittance. No one wants a large entertainment center any more. Maybe you can repurpose it by putting shelves in it and making it a wardrobe.

If you really want to get it gone, list it for free with your own firm terms (taker arranges to get it out of your house, taker loads it by themselves, pickup on the curb, whatever works best for you.). It could be gone this weekend--is the $50 that important?

Ugh, it's so big and bulky. The top of it is flush with the ceiling, I'm trying to get rid of it, but would anyone from Craigslist even want it? It was around $800 and I'm willing to sell it for $50 just to get it gone! Any advice for selling large objects?
